20mm Painted WW2 German Landing Barges Type A1.

2 German  landing barges Type A1 from Frontline Wargaming (you get what you pay for) for the Operation Sealion project, not a bad size and look good for the period, I've got some Kriegsmarine for a shore party, may get some crew figures (like U-boat figures?) for the barges and a tug boat I'm currently painting.

Went with grey as these were pre-built for the invasion? (Unsure of this though)

Assembled German invasion barges?

  1. They look spot on Fran. From the period pic, it looks like they have just converted some barges and I wonder if the tall square structure on the end of them is for the crew of the vehicles that would be in the covered holds?

Nothing quite like a beach landing and watch out for the home guard defending the ice cream palour.

  28. I always appreciate when vehicles designed to transport other vehicles are scaled appropriately.

  29. The thought of one of those popping up on a beach and unleashing a squad of tanks is unsettling.
