20mm WW2 Early War German Heer Infantry Squad.

Started to finish off my early war German infantry platoon from CP Model Miniatures (TQD Range), these were a bit of a debate for me as they are relaxed and marching poses but they do no other poses than these and I will need to add other ranges for mortar crews and HMGs but they are really lovely figures.

I need to do their collar flashes and have ordered a paint pen to help with this (started to do this with a paintbrush and had to walk away and calm down or figures would have suffered), I like the marching poses but some people prefer action poses and I should have the whole platoon finished by the end of the week.

What do you think?

  7. I like the idea of having both action figures and these relaxed figures. It's like having the village details you include. That extra touch of reality is pleasing to the eye and better historically as well.

  13. Very nice bunch of troops,Sir. Could be they are relaxing during advance, dreaming and chatting about the Vaterland, and are strolling unawares into an ambush of the "long sleep."

  17. Really nice paintjobs there Fran.

The cool thing about relaxed poses they can be used for stealth raids etc wandering sentries whilst commandos or OSS Agents are sneaking around the town.

  27. I so can't comment on this with any real sense of conviction becaus I don't get this type of hobby, but I do get people who are passionate about things they're in to. Well done.

  29. That's great quality and especially at 20mm; you've got to be pleased with them.

  30. They look great! Must take a lot of precision.

  31. Excellent work Lurker - I prefer late war Germans as their uniforms were less ornate and less stressful to paint as a result (less piping and cuffs etc) ;)

  32. Some nice poses here, I like those relaxed figs a lot. Great job on the painting and now try that pen. Let us know if it survives the first attempts.

  33. I'm glad to hear you walked away before the decapitations started. Paint pens are a neat idea. I've not used one before but they sold often at the fabric shop.

  35. Really nice finish Angry L,

I like the more relaxed posed figures myself as they can be used with 1/72 and 1/76 scale dioramas.

Not sure if Tony B was aiming for a cross over between wargaming and modelling (to catch both markets?). Maybe took his inspiration from the early war news reels and pics in books with the German army strolling across europe up to 41?

    Whatever, cool figures!

  39. Freakingly realistic detailed work. It looks like they're coming in for the kill in one picture. But most of them look like they're on the way to a brothel for beers and some nice, relaxing fun. :)

  40. Very nice work. Their poses remind me of that old joke:

Q: Why do the French have so many trees along their roads?

A: Simple, so the Germans can walk in the shade...

  43. I like some of these poses really, but action ones would be better for an actual game. These are more standing around looking cool in a collection poses.
