15mm Painted GZG Civilian Mechas and Support Vehicles.....

.....and Broadside 2013 this Sunday with the Rejects!

These were purchased at Salute 2013 (first stop before they sold out) and are my contractor/civilian vehicles for scenery, maybe a scenario or two, terraforming etc.... and also as impromptu hardware for any rebel factions and uprisings!

They're lovely looking vehicles but were an absolute arseache (the Mechas) to put together, I like GZG especially their infantry but their vehicles sometimes do my fecking head in but I'm addicted and that's that and people will say if you don't like them don't buy them, that's true also but it's a limited market and it sometimes feels like your treated that way....as I said they're nice but some instructions now and again would be helpful, I built these with pictures I found on Dropship Horizon............

15mm GZG figure to show some size or scale.....

Hercules version B and C, power loader and site clearance Mechas......

Colonial Ranger and Rover.......

This was the two Mechas as purchased...........

.....but the end result is not too bad!

  1. I do love the mechs but they do look like they're a nightmare to put together and paint. Good job with them. Have fun at Broadside and make sure to buy lots of stuff. I mean not spend too much. Nah, I really mean spend a lot.

  4. They look great!! And I'm impressed you managed to put them together and paint them without flying into a fit of rage and destroying things (the reason I cannot do these miniatures, despite friends trying to make me...)

  5. How great that you built them. They look great. Now, is Rayola able to build as well. Or do you have to help him?

  9. Nice work! Now your colonists can cut down those pesky forests more quickly.

The blue on the windscreens of the ranger and rover seems to be much lighter than on the walkers. Deliberate?

I like the Ranger and Rover !
The (beautiful!) blue is perfect with the ochre.

  12. well, if I was getting dropped on a possibly hostile planet I'd definitely want some of those mechas with me!

  13. The end results were excellent, Fran! I especially like your glass effects. And wow, that's a lot of parts to put together. If my son were younger, we'd be painting and playing these. He was such a huge Mech Warriors fan.

  14. that really is incredibly small!

  15. Nice models, Fran! It's great to have COBs on the battlefield. I've been slowly adding them to my own 28mm skirmish games. Moving los blockers, scenario dressing, or VP for protecting. It's a shame to spend all that time crafting a game board and not have a few civilians going about their business in the grand urban decay!

  16. They look damn good. The blue on the windows leaps out against the dull yellow. Mechas give the impression of real mass.

  17. I love GZG models but as a business they are a bit backward, like a lot of the established wargames industry I suppose. The last time I was on their website I thought for a while I had accidentally achieved my long held goal of time-travelling back to the 1980's.

Lovely minis and great paint jobs Fran.

  21. They did indeed turn ou reat great. That's a lot of pieces that to not have instructions. What is that shade of blue you use for your vehicle windows; I do like the look.

  22. They look great Fran. Too bad they sound like a real headache to assemble. Still I like the look of them so very tempting!

  26. Nice job putting these together and painting them. I like the blue you use. What colour and what manufacturer is it? Could use it on my high elves.

Have a grand time at Broadside and don't forget to engage people and be friendly during your demo game!

  28. See you tomorrow mate.
I know I will eventually be getting some of these mecha but have put it off until I get a few other things sorted first. So at least I'll know who to talk to when the time comes for me to assemble them.

Got to say how good they look hope mine come out as good.

Cheers Mate..... and doors for set up open at 8am Sunday so don't get there too early this year.

  32. Fran, well done, mate - I think those are terrific. I really do like the clunky robot-y look to them. I also love spacesuits with closed in helmets....now that's a real space look!
