Salute 2012, Fieldworks Models and 80 pence!

The weekend nearly killed me, between the show, the Sunday gaming and cooking and all the smiling I was fecked! The show was great, met loads of fellow bloggers, stayed until the end (first ever time and never again!) and I admit people coming up to you and staring for a second or two and then going "Are you the Angry Lurker? will never get old or tiring! (some people did the stare but then walked off but you can't blame them after seeing the picture below!)
Proof that Ray actually bought lunch, well dinner anyway!

I stuck to the list (no Pamela Anderson again!) but I had a certain amount of money in my right hand pocket and that was that (I'm not telling!) and I ended up with 80p ($0.50) left because of the lovely Kath and John Shuker at Fieldworks whose 15mm modern distressed  buildings were beautiful and painted and they were generous with the discounts, really lovely stuff and Franonia is taking shape because of them, Timecast were very generous with a few freebies but I still screwed up my order (doh!)

The meeting with fellow bloggers went well with a surprising amount turning up, meeting others around the show and some who forgot or got too drunk!

Here's a brief list that I can remember, good bloggers and go visit them!

Mike at Trouble At T'Mill
Jay and his beautiful wife over at The Raptor's Nest
Andy over at The Lair of the Breviks
MiniMike (Dutch Chapter) at MiniStories
Dalauppror (that's him in helmet on his avatar) at Dalauppror
Dave over at One man and his brushes
Michael at 28mm Victorian Warfare
Seb (French Chapter) at Back to the minis
Tamsin over at Wargaming Girl
Andy at The Hangar Bay
Dallas at Fawcett Avenue Conscripts
Curt (Canadian Chapter) over at Analogue Hobbies
Tomsche (Pikachu hat wearing legend!) at Societa di archeologia e cimeli

..and Clint over at Anything but a One (he wasn't there but he was in spirit and he's sorting out Broadside 2012 with others which is our next show!)

Now if I've forgotten anybody or got their name worng I'm sorry and mortified, I took pictures but not a lot and even those were dodgy for all sorts of reasons but some of my favourites and clearest are shown below.....

Corunna 1809, my favourite and I believe it was voted the best!

Sevastapol 1855.....

Oshiro Model Terrain Samurai game...I focused more on the lovely scenery!

Baltic War, Slowing the Tide, beautiful stuff in 28mm......

Wargames Show Lists!

While wandering around the blogs this week I've come across a lot of people doing lists for Salute 2012 of what they're buying and visiting, a damn good idea and many years and shows later I decided I need to do this, there's been a lot of times where I'm standing at a stand and going "I needed something here???????"

Vallejo paints I can never think of and end up with 17 desert yellows stuck in a drawer!
Static grass that I can't remember who I bought off and now covers most of my bases, so this year I brought a sample?
Bathe!!!!, so we can't be accused and collecting a prize and meeting fellow bloggers and gamers.....
Smile more I've been told......

So here we go but I think it may have strayed from the path..........

Salute 2012, For Sale and Polo Shirts!

Ray has done a post about the Rejects on tour at Salute and out willingness to meet fellow bloggers and wargamers primarily because we can, we should, we want to and especially to put faces to names (maybe a group shot), the one thing that this blogging shenanigans has done has brought a lot of people together across the globe which can't be a bad thing and has kept me functioning as a human being for a lot longer than I was intending to!

For the love of Michael Flately take the picture as I can't hold my breath for much longer!

I'm going to Salute obviously like everybody else primarily for figures and stock or what my funds allow me to buy but I'm looking forward to meeting people (with a little trepidation because I am a little shy) that I've spoken to countless times on their blogs.

Now Ray has sorted out a time for a brief meet up at the venue (it was meant to be a pub but he's driving and can't drink, I'm not though but he is my lift!) but if you see me before that stop me and introduce yourself and while I can be politely described as a large lump (rhymes with cat) and looking like a bulldog licking piss off a nettle I am not too bad a human being as some fellow bloggers I've met in person can hopefully say!

I have organised some polo shirts for the Rejects game at Broadside 2012 (information on the side bar) and while they didn't come out exactly as I wanted they're still very acceptable, we did the shirts after speaking to and seeing other demo game clubs and groups do this for uniformity and stopping some ass crack moments! We'll probably wear them at the show....under a jacket!

After this I shaved my head!

I also have a new page at the top of the blog with a link to some stuff for sale on Ebay which funds my Shinybloodyitis disease and Salute this weekend.

We've also got an ACW game on the Sunday with a few Canadian bloggers and I'm cooking my heart attack on a plate as well.

English Language Best Blog 2011, I won.......

The owner of the blog La Figoblogotheque emailed me last night to say I had won the English Language Best Blog 2011, this is the award I was nominated for and I asked people to help me with last week and thanks to you lot I won.......now I know I'm not because there is better out there but I still won!

I make no apologies for acting like a blog whore like Ray, thanks again!

One other question, bloggers from other parts of the world are turning up for Salute 2012, Excel Centre, London Docklands on the 21st of April and some of them want to meet up with some of the Rejects and others, do you know of a good pub near the venue?

The Rejects and a Tiger at Salute 2012?

The Rejects met Paul Darnell at Salute this year and myself and Ray had been following his blogs for a while, had a chat with him at the show, took some pictures and went our separate ways but we would meet again seemingly, Paul runs two blogs Battles in Miniature and Hadrian's Wall Live , he is a prolific model maker (very good and can turn his eye to any piece of terrain you could want) and has several publications to his name, more information on those blogs (go visit).

Anyway his latest post on his Battles in Miniature blog is about a WW2 game he will be hosting at Salute 2012 and the rejects will be assisting on the day (now I hope Paul knows what he's getting himself into because we're gits when we game and Ray has terrible social skills).

It's a 1:1 late war WW2 skirmish at a radar station......anyway go over to his blog and read the post.

This is one of his old WW2 layouts from issue 3 of one of his model books.

The Rejects at Salute 2012 and participating and not being asked to leave hopefully (I'm talking to you Ray), could get in free aswell (£12.00 extra to spend on figures).
