28mm Victorian Victim.........

...........was his demise murder or drowning?

My entry for the water feature round of the painting challenge , he is part of a foundry set which I had painted once and many years ago had been given it the dettol treatment. I felt he screamed water feature........

As you can see he is quite flat.......

The water wasn't that deep........

Have actually found all the figures now.........

"The water was a feature in his demise, not the only feature but...............

28mm Foundry Orkmacht WH40K Ork Chef.....

........and another blog is having a giveaway.

Added a catering department to the Orkmacht, those crazy orks who found some Victors, Warlord and Battle comics on a data slate while fecking up the galaxy and the WW2 German bug bit the orks and a blitzkrieg Waaagh hit the galaxy......

He's a 28mm Foundry figure with a plastic field kitchen to store the vittles, the cleaver is not only for preparing the foodstuff but for dealing with complaints (I remember my days in the kitchens, blood, sweat and anger), not the best pictures but you get the idea?

There's a link below to the first post...........

Orkmacht

The boys over at Canister and Grape are having a giveaway to celebrate 7 years and they are giving away some good stuff especially if you're in to Frostgrave, go over and get involved!

BLOG-CON at Foundry Miniatures 9th/10th November 2013.........

......I came, I saw, I wrote about it.

A few of the Rejects want and hope to attend this in November and hopefully attend both days, a few games, good friends, maybe a few beers and a few curries but this is also for non bloggers to attend, it's about community!

"A Convention run by and for Wargames Bloggers"

James Brewerton or G.I James has written this on his blog to launch Blog-Con........

I am very happy to be able to announce that Wargames Foundry have agreed to host Blog-Con 2013 at their Foundry in Nottingham over the weekend of November 9th/10th.
What I want is for all you bloggers to have a great time be able to catch up face to face and also try out some different games. I would like anyone who would like to bring a game along to contact me with what game it is how much space they will need and how long a game will last. When I have a list of what games are going to be put on I will produce a list, while I do not want to get all formal and do sign up lists I think we will need to give the people putting on some idea of how many gamers want to try their game. My hope is that with a good bit of publicity we may get a few non-bloggers showing up and trying out a few games. If we can encourage some new wargamers then all the better also it would be nice if we can encourage along any youngsters. I have set up a new blog that I want to run as a community blog, anyone who wants to post on it just needs to let me know their email address so I can set them up as authors, on this blog you can tell all about the game you are putting on or maybe the painting/terrain demo you want to put on or simply can offer a lift to the venue. I will be giving the blog address to Marcus and it will be linked to the Foundry Website.

My 28mm Lieutenant Colonel Fremantle of the Coldstream Guards....

....who in 1863 toured the Confederate states for 3 months and is seen here in the movie Gettysburg and played by the actor James Lancaster, he viewed most of the battle from a tree, met Longstreet and Lee amongst other Confederacy officers and wrote a very interesting diary of his travels through the south which I have just read and liked, my copy was from 1956 sans dust jacket.

So anyway you're wondering why am I harping on about him, well I wanted to represent Fremantle with a figure for my ACW forces as a possible scenario involving him (his journey) was uneventful and relatively safe until he crossed over in to the Union lines (some townsfolk handed him over to union military forces with a note that said basically in nice words to hang him as a spy).....

....so after much searching through Victorian and Crimean miniature sites I either found nothing or nothing cheap (part of a larger set) but surprisingly Ray found and bought for a £1 a suitable figure at the Foundry stand at Salute in their singles pile (what a nice guy, it's hard to believe some people say such terrible things about him).

I present Lt Col Arthur James Lyon Fremantle (1835-1901), he is described as wearing a grey hunting suit with a cowboy hat at one stage but I could only find this version which is more like the movie version below........

James Lancaster in a scene from the movie..........

....the man himself and you can read more here.

.....and the book is well worth a read!

....and that great girl Tamsin is giving away five lots of goodness and today is the last day so go visit here and the links for the other 4 are there also!

Gifts that can bite you in the ass....and some painted 28mm Foundry Orcs!

Late last year I sold some figures to fund the disease that is wargaming and did okay, felt the Irish guilt and asked the other half if she needed anything and lo and behold she said and egg incubator that she had seen on eBay!!!!!! (She does have some chickens........ducks......turkeys.....and geese, the geese are homicidal, aggressive, very intelligent and protective feckers).

Well anyway she used it once with unsatisfactory results, I sighed and life went on until Wednesday night when she ran into the front room with a small yellow thing attached to some shell, handed it to me and told me to keep it warm, more followed and eventually eight little bastards chicks are assaulting my fecking eardrums from an enclosure in the front room........

Lurker: Quiet!!!!!
Chick Horde: Cheeeeeeeppppp!!!!!!
Lurker: What now?
Chick Horde: Cheep!
Lurker: I've just done your hot water bottle!
Bastard Horde: Cheeeeep!!!!
Lurker: Mummy will be home soon, get back under the fleece and keep warm!
Fecking Horde: Cheepppppppp!!!!!!
Lurker: No, I'm not holding you and would you please shut up, you've driven the fecking dogs out of the bottom floor of the house. (The dogs have taken to eyeing me with contempt and with the notion it's my fault and if I don't do something soon there will be consequences...!)
Chick Horde: Cheeeppppp!!!!!!
Lurker: Your making Daddy cry........and twitch (I can still hear them now and I'm at work!).

BASTARDS!!!!!!!!!

.....and some Wargames Foundry Orcs!

28mm Foundry War Orc Queen...dedicated to Anne.

Anne (you know who I'm talking about) commented that she's interested in foundry's War Orc figures at the moment and I said that I thought I still had some from when Dave Thomas sold a load of at a SELWG many, many years ago and she said she wanted to see pictures so........This big bitch is listed as a mad Ogress Queen from Foundry and she is big, she was painted quite a long time ago and today maybe I would have painted her differently but that doesn't matter now.....you can name her Anne if you want and her followers will be posted as well.

I've always liked a little fantasy figure here and there...........especially a well sculpted or quirky piece, you should see all the Games Workshop plastic chaos warriors and skeletons I have.

I feel the call of some fantasy figures..........maybe!

One of her loyal warriors.......
