Bloody Weather.

Took five and a quarter hours to get home last night for a journey(came close to crashing several times) that normally takes 20 minutes maximum, bloody snow and fecking weather here in Gravesend(parking lot for a couple of hundred abandoned cars and trucks), England and now cannot get back to work.

  1. F**k thats a bad journey. Mind you it is Gravesend... might as well be on the far side of the moon. I always take my Passport and Pith Helmet when traveling across the river...

We had a fresh fall of 3-4cm of snow overnight. Not much but overlying a hard crust of ice. Virtually had to chisel the car clean this morning and the driving conditions can best be described as 'interesting'. I had an hours journey into work (normally 15-20 minutes). Needless to say I'll be going home early, before everything freezes again.

  2. Poor contingency planning Fran, you should have stayed at work with a sleeping bag and helped the lads out on nights, that's what I would have done.

  3. We just had our first obvious dusting tonight over here. People are more used to it here, and probably would only double the time--20 becomes 40 minutes. But the dusting won't add any time.

It's really bad if the defroster won't work, then you've got to toss snowballs out there or waste coffee, or body fluids to clear the windshield.

Good news though, just got adsense and amazon working, I think, a day or so late for the Cyber Monday they promote here.

  4. holy crap!!! how far was the actual trip? We've got one (20 meter)patch of roadworks here and a minute delay is starting to stress people out.

  8. That's rough. The innocence of yesterday is gone at a stroke, but with luck you still got something worthwhile out of the journey. Your pic's definitely more apt than mine then.

  9. "Fall of 3-4cm" LOL.
I'll bookmark this to laugh at next time we get 3-4feet.

I hope those twits at the Climate Research Centre are freezing their asses off up in Norwich.
