15mm Modern Team Yankee BM-21 Grad 122mm Multiple Rocket Launch System.....

....from Battlefront!

The BM-21 is a Soviet truck mounted 122mm multiple rocket launcher, the "Grad" stands for hail! A minimum range of 1.6km and a maximum of up to 40km and is the most widely used multiple rocket launch system in the world!

3 resin BM-21 from Battlefront, not too difficult to put together, 2 for the Russians/East Europeans and 1 for my North Koreans! Yet again probably scenery or an objective?

15mm FOW Battlefront Team Yankee ZSU 23-4 "Shilka", 1.5 million hits.......

..........and has anyone seen my blog rolls?

A couple of 15mm ZSU 23-4 from Flames of War new Team Yankee range set around the time of the cold war in the 1980's, the pieces are resin with metal parts, they're not too bad apart from some damage to the hull (broken pieces not in blister pack either). Painted up for forces either in the middle east or eastern Europe and still in use to this day!

Trying to use what I can for my modern skirmish gaming and have used some other vehicles from the range including scenery!

Hit 1.5 million hits a while back but wasn't online at the time and in the last few days have lost both blog rolls ( I know a little careless but they have vanished) and I am currently trying to catch up and remember a lot, if you want to remind me of any just check the current blog roll to the left.

The acronym "ZSU" stands for Zenitnaya Samokhodnaya Ustanovka (RussianЗенитная Самоходная Установка), meaning "anti-aircraft self-propelled mount"; the "23" signifies the bore diameter in millimeters; the "4" signifies the number of gun barrels. It is named after the Shilka River in Russia. Afghan soldiers nicknamed it the "sewing machine" due to the sound of firing guns. It is also referred to by its nickname of "Zeus".

15mm Late War WW2 Game, Kostshin, Poland 1945

We gathered on Sunday to help play test some WW2 Warhammer rules with Ian's (hadn't seen him in a while) 15mm late war German and Soviets, there was myself, Postie, Ray and of course Ian (Surjit had been unable to turn up so we were one down).
The action from mine and Posties view was playing the Soviets facing Ray's Germans entrenched in the town while setting charges on a bridge over the river Odra, we had 15 turns to reach the bridge and take out the demolition pillbox and win the game, Ray had to stop us and escape before this.
We had 2 platoons of T34/85s, one platoon of T34/76 and a platoon of ISU-152 plus just over 3 companies of infantry but well outside the town.
Ray was well equipped and will let you know more from his point of view on his blog, he had units hidden and were only deployed when he wanted or they were triggered by discovery.
The game was a nightmare for the Russians as Postie got picked off by accurate 88 fire for a couple of turns (we had gone for triple movement but with no firing just to close with the town and cover). For some reason we had no artillery or air cover attached as Ian had left them at home (git), well after 5 turns we reached the outskirts but this had taken over 3 hours as there was a lot of dice to be thrown and a lot of figure movement but it was a good game and a victory for the Soviets as Ray had thrown a massive tantrum on turn 1 when he found out that the 3 tigers he had placed hull down could not move again for the entire game and was witnessed saying well that's game over then.

Two things of note was the excellent scenery which is a mixture of several companies and that most of these painted figures and vehicles were mine several years ago but due to financial issues were sold to Ian for a fraction of their worth but I'm not bitter:D

Downtown Kostshin.

Beautiful but didn't get this far.

The demolition pillbox.

Nearly reached here.

The majestic forces of the Motherland.

More of Stalin's boys.

Outskirts of Kostschin, troops are hidden until deployed.

A good overview shot showing the bridge and our starting positions.

Another great building.

Ian whose collection we are using and lapsed Reject.

The bridge with unseen German engineers planting demolition charges.

Great terrain piece.

Outskirts of Kostschin, full of German sections with panzerfausts and panzershrecks.

88's in the bloody buildings but not for long.

The orange marker denotes immobilised for the game, there was a sheet which showed the result for rolling a D10 on damage rolls, Ray seemed to just get shaken while the Soviets got immobilised and explodes usually.

The figures at the back of the tank denote what was riding on the tank.

Another T34 gone and all riding troops as well.

Vengeance as a Tiger brews up.

Troops leaving the tanks to take the buildings.

Postie assaulting the trenches, he did eventually take them but at a heavy price.

My boys clearing another building of Fascists.

The slow but getting there ISU 152mm's

Ray had everything written on a map as to where his units were placed but forgot to mark off when he placed them and got confused the little Fascist git.

Panthers deploying from there hiding places.

Panzer IV's advancing to the bridge.

SDKFZ 251 deploys behind a building.

Panthers and Tiger forming a firing line.

Another building cleared...well nearly!

The Soviets were like Pickfords for clearing an upper and lower floor but it was taking too long and too many casualties.

Stalking in the town.

Stunning piece of kit.

Panzershreck and Panzerfaust alley.
