28mm Painted Pulp Figures Villian: The Crimson Scorpion?

This 28mm figure is from http://www.pulpfigures.com/ and is called The Crimson Avenger from the Weird Villians pack, quite a nice figure and I have been thinking about getting into Pulp/WWW2 gaming and using him for this period because I like the bad guy in movies or gaming (as long as he is a good bad guy?).

When I wargamed WW2 I focused more on the germans, Lord of the Rings I focused on Saruman and the Urak-Hai, WW1 again the germans etc........in the movies I like a good bad guy like a bond villian (Blofeld, Auric Goldfinger) with the right amount of madness (but not the lunacy in Tomorrow Never Dies) and even better an organisation (SPECTRE). I do not mention Oddjob or Jaws as they are henchmen (and henchmen are a topic all by themselves) and a critical part of the villians team, I even rooted for a while for Damien in the Omen's, mention has to go to Hannibal Lecter, The Punisher, Darth Vader, Joker (Heath Ledger) etc........there are many more and while we may not condone what they do, they do do it well.

It's all about the conspiracy and the what if's with me.

L to R, 28mm foundry and copplestone castings as size comparisons.

  1. Very cool! He kinda has that Cobra Commander look! Your paint job looks good too.

  3. He's definitely a weird villain, and the number of possible uses must be high.

  4. Nice minis with a good paintjob. How do you paint firearms: black base colour and grey edges? I tried metallic edges on black, but yours looks good and my firearms looks crappy...so it's either my painting or my choice of colours.

  6. @TAL: OK, if gunmetal grey is a metallic colour like citadel bolt gun metal...then it has to be my painting.

  7. The Punisher, like Deadpool, is more of an anti-hero than a villain.

  10. Hannibal Lecter, The Punisher, Darth Vader, Joker all have certainly acheived a lot... when it comes to DEATH and DESTRUCTION.

  16. A nice figure, full of self-righteousness and insecurity, just how I like my villains.

The most entertaining bad guys never think that they are the problem I reckon: Magneto is very much in the vein of that anti-hero mentioned earlier, and all the better for it (the very start of the first X Men movie is great in that respect).

Dr Doom is one of my all time favourite "bad" guys, and he definitely reckons that he is the good guy, its just that the plebs wont listen ;)
