Finally have photographic proof of miniatures painted for my What If? WW2 Operation Sealion game, these are refugees to clog the roads (I am painting more), to be rescued or protected. I like figures like these, they are not neccesary to the game but I like scenery and extras like this and they add to a game.
The miniatures can be found here
http://sgts-mess.com/uksgtsmesshome.html under Refugees, have added some size and comparison pictures if they're of any help.
L to R, Kellys Heroes, C-P Models, AB Figures and Lamercraft.
The man with the crutch looks like he's pretty much having the worst week ever. I can see how background and scenery can add to the depth, especially having a population.
ReplyDeleteGood looking cannon fodder figs mate!!!
ReplyDeleteCracking job - as always!
T.
A great start to the project!
ReplyDeletethese look great
ReplyDeleteThe pull-cart's a nice touch.
ReplyDeletethese look good. keep us updated on this project
ReplyDeleteVery nice Fran!!
ReplyDeleteHeh cool! Looks alot like warhammer!
ReplyDeleteScenery and extras are very important and should not be overlooked. Nice work, Fran.
ReplyDeletean idea "cut the bases off their feet stick a small pin at the bottom of the foot" profit
ReplyDeletethose figures looks nice!
ReplyDeleteThose dang refugees clogging the roads in any battle situation. lol.
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the figures, they will add a immersive element to your game
ReplyDeleteNice man, I agree with the others, scenery can bring your game alive.
ReplyDelete!!!! 20mm...you´ve started!!! I congratulate you on starting with civilian figs...not many would have thought to do that..nice one :-D
ReplyDeleteCheers
paul
Nice job, they look great. Sounds like a cool element to add, to me.
ReplyDeleteMore great work.
ReplyDeletenice refugees, good job!
ReplyDeleteVery cool - ive always thought gaming Sea Lion would be fun. Ive never seen anyone do it.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of having extras.
ReplyDeleteNow if you just had 2 young men, one of them sickly and carrying a dagger with a ruby in the hilt...
ReplyDeleteLove the details on the refugees.
ReplyDeleteBeing a snarky smartass, I would add The Fugees as an inside joke, and maybe an actual sealion...
so far it looks amazingly good. videotape yourself painting the figures!
ReplyDeleteit would be fun shooting them w/ a bb gun
ReplyDeleteIt looks like they have a tough road ahead. I wish them well.
ReplyDeleteVery nice!
the coolest painted refugees I've ever seen. Also, the only painted refugees...haha
ReplyDeleteExcellent work!! Just what you needed to delay the british counter offensive, refugees in every road to the front!! ;)
ReplyDeleteHow are refugees not useful? Once rescued, apply a little salt, and all your world war woes and hunger disappear!
ReplyDeleteSorry I missed you 100,000 hit; congrats!
Wow, I'm not that familiar with the 20mm size, but that is likely because I rarely engage in historical gaming. I wonder how much premade terrain fits this scale.
ReplyDeleteLooks like they're about to face something hairy, and they probably need more than the old man's cane to get the job done.
ReplyDeleteNice refugees and civilians really add detail to the battlefield.
ReplyDeleteThe idea of going out of your way to paint refugess for a game/scenario is superb. Good stuff, looking forward to seeing more.
ReplyDeleteLooking great man
ReplyDeleteI think these kind of minis (civilians/innocent bystanders) are great. The really add a lot to a game, I think, in terms of realism and visual appeal.
ReplyDeletenice work as always
ReplyDeleteNice guy, poor guy he has to pull that cart by himself!
ReplyDeleteHey Lurker. Popped in to say howdy. Cold here today, even the heat kicked on. Just got done mowing the lawn, soon to serve supper to Tim and Dwayne. They are playing the 360. Come on over for the fun.
ReplyDeleteIs it weird that I feel bad for a miniature with only one leg? I also think those are a very neat addition to the game, even if they're not crucial. Details like that make me happy.
ReplyDeleteLooks great my man keep us posted
ReplyDeleteExtras always make a battlefield look better.
ReplyDeleteChristopher
again cute collection
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff, looked at doing this a couple of times myself, Bob Mackenzie's site has a few scenarios worth a look

Awesome figures man, great painting!
ReplyDeleteNo women? You can't have battlefield refugees without women and children.
