1/6th Scale Movie Predator Model.

A very good friend of mine sent me some pictures of this model I painted for him recently, he has an obsession with the franchise, the model is resin and I thought not that great for the price, he is ordering a base of skulls which I will paint to finish it, I believe it's 1:6 scale.

This model was a bit of a bitch with the size as I had never done this scale before but I think it worked out alright, the pictures are his so I can't be blamed this time, he has included one of Copplestones 28mm predators (which I painted the team for him) as a size and scale reference.

The git has been hinting that one large predator is lonely on it's own and needs to be part of a team and has been searching the bleeding internet recently.

  8. That's pretty awesome. Great detail. And Zombie is right, now you need an alien. Or a 16th scale Gary Busey.

  22. That's a great paint job -- I imagine that 1:6 would be very unforgiving in some respects, in that more "impressionistic" techniques that work well on very small figures wouldn't necessarily work when painting something larger like this. Well done!

  24. Search the Internet all he likes, the world's best Predator statuette images are here on The Angry Lurker blog, and the value more than doubles with a good paintjob. Google images will confirm that for years to come.

  28. Very nice paint, impressive work. I wonder if there are any of the older predator kits around with the shoulder mounted weapon they were sweet. I saw one at a model show about 14 years ago where some wild man used fiber-optics and a laser so it had the 3 beams of the targeting array lit.

I always liked working big, it allows you to really pick out details and add widgets like lights, etc. I am not sure which I would rather work on at that scale, resin or vinyl. Resin is sturdier (well some types of resin) but vinyl allows you to add things under the skin however it needs some reinforcement if the environment gets too hot it tends to sag.
