An example of Shinybloodyitis, 350,000+ hits and I'm away for a while.......

.......on holiday for 10 days, going nowhere but I need a break from Ray, his habits are disgusting!

I've done a guest post (my first) for Mel over at !No,really, you can eat it! and she should post it soon (next Monday or Tuesday I believe), I have been asked before but I don't believe I have anything worth saying, her request was for something chef related back in my wilder days!

I will hopefully be doing a little give away on the 23rd of July (my blogs 2nd birthday) with a unique little item I hope........

Thanks very much for the reading, visiting and the commenting over the last 23 months.........

......and now for the example.

Lovely piece of kit (paint brush holder) that I bought at Salute from Oshiro Terrain, my only gripe would be that all the holes should be slightly bigger!

With brushes inserted.......

....this has been my brush staple for several years and quite functional, bonus points if you can name the TV series on the mug!

So why did I buy the shiny thing, was it that I had been in the Salute queue for quite a while (35 minutes), was it because my money was burning a hole in my pocket, was it because it was my 17th or so stand to browse and buy nothing or was it Shinybloodyitis!!!!!!

I give up and I'll see you in ten, probably try to drop by and read a few blogs though, it'll depend on the SWMBO and her nefarious plans to fill my time!

  1. Oh I DO like the brush stand! It's been a while since I painted anything but would have loved this back in my art school days.

Looking forward to your guest post over at Mel's place!

I have cheated and asked my husband about the TV show on the mug. He says: Ashes to Ashes.

  2. Nice new brush holder. Mine, unfortunately, is quite similar to your old one.

Also, congrats on another blogging milestone.

  7. Life on Mars.

Congrats on all the hits. I won't say anything about your rack. Seems like a touchy subject. I like the mug better.

Have a fantastic holiday. And don't choke on your energy drinks.

  13. GOOD LUCK oh and I hope that your old paintbrush holder finds use as tea holder for when your painting and need a drink at the same time

  14. Some of your paintbrushes are in poor condition. I think you need to overcome shinybloodyitis by purchasing some new brushes. And while you are at it, you may need some new paint, because we always need more paint. And, some greenstuff. And DAS clay. And some more brass wire...it is always good to have brass wire...and some more glue...yes, glue is always good, too. ...and heck, go all in and get some bases, just because you never know when they might come in handy...

  17. Enjoy your break mate! I actually like the brush stand, but the LoM mug has a certain class of its own though.

Have you ever seen the US version of LoM? It's not as good as the original, but worth getting and once it stops trying to follow the British plots, it actually gets quite good. Harvey Keitel doesn't really work as Gene Hunt... but for about £12 it's worth it imo... I actually preferred it to 'Ashes to Ashes'.

  22. Ahhh sweet precious shiny things. I don't know where I'd be without them. It looks like it holds your brushes just fine, but that could be just what it looks like. Enjoy your time off. I don't know too much about Ray but it does seem prolonged exposure requires breaks.

  28. Very nice sir! I think I need to go find a brush stand like yours this weekend. Painting models for more than 20 years, I'm still storing my brushes in a coffee mug! (blush).

Just one little thing, if you have brush cap or cut up straw, try to store the brushes hair side down. This way you can let the water residual run away from the brush. Help keep your expensive brushes last longer.

    Best wishes,

    VS

  50. Congrats, dude! I've been away, myself, from the world of blogging. You have a lelluva nice brush holder. Each brush has different widths of... well... brush. I can't name the show on the cup, though. and I'm too lazy to check through all the previous comments to see who named it right (if they could, in fact). Hope you had a great holiday, man. Take care

  51. Enjoy your hols, Fran! Congrats on all the hits.

  52. Ha, i use a cup sometimes, they have these canvass brush holders, but it nesseciates spending hours cleaning the brushes of white spirits. I just use washing up liquid. That tiny red one makes me realise you must spend hours on the fiddly bits.
And its D.I Hunt from Life on Mars.
