The Difference between the Infantry, the Armoured and the Artillery in the Army....
The Difference between the Infantry, the Armoured and the Artillery in the army........
HAPPINESS IS . . .
Infantry: A good rifle
Armoured: A big tank
Artillery: A loud boom
UPON HEARING FIREWORKS:
Infantry: Cool, just like a live fire exercise
Armoured: Not loud enough
Artillery: Fireworks? What fireworks?
OTHER TRADES:
Infantry: Waste of rations
Armoured: Waste of rations
Artillery: Waste of rations
IDEA OF FUN:
Infantry: Not having to "pepper-pot" an entire grid square before the
objective
Armoured: Racing across a grid square on "full stab"
Artillery: Leveling a grid square
FAVOURITE SONG:
Infantry: "Ballad of the Green Beret"
Armoured: "Purple Haze"
Artillery: Anything, just play it LOUD!
BIGGEST LUXURY IN THE FIELD:
Infantry: Engineers blowing trenches for them with C4
Armoured: Grunts to dig their trenches for them
Artillery: Cable
A LONG ROUTE MARCH WITH FULL KIT:
Infantry: 20 clicks
Armoured: From the hangars to the tank
Artillery: What's a route march?
OFFICERS:
Infantry: Are morons and should stay away from the trench lines
Armoured: Are morons and should stay out of the vehicles
Artillery: Are morons and should stay away from the gun lines
FAVOURITE MODE OF TRANSPORTATION:
Infantry: Anything but walking
Armoured: Tanks. Tanks. Tanks. TankstankstankstanksTANKS!
Artillery: Don't you have to move around to require transport?
BIGGEST GRIPE IN THE FIELD:
Infantry: The weather
Armoured: Coffee maker in tank not working
Artillery: Only having basic cable
BREAKFAST IN THE FIELD:
Infantry: I don't care what it is, just so long as I can sit down to eat it
Armoured: Hot coffee and rum with a beer chaser
Artillery: Eggs over easy, crispy bacon, sausages, toast and fresh coffee

That was awesome! Leveling a grid square. Where do I sign up?
ReplyDeleteBrilliant, although I was under the impression that all hard pressed infantry love the artillery!
ReplyDeleteExcellent! Ex infantryman myself and I can agree with most of it apart from the song. More of a metallica fan myself ;0)
ReplyDeleteLoud though!
DeleteNicely done Fran
ReplyDeleteThat is brilliant Fran.
ReplyDeleteI think I got about half of all that - funny!
ReplyDeleteI've leveled a few grid squares here and there also play music, TV, and everything else very loud...yup I'm a retired gun bunny...)
ReplyDeleteGood to hear!
DeleteArmoured: Tanks. Tanks. Tanks. TankstankstankstanksTANKS! Good stuff.
ReplyDeleteExcellent! Difference between the (British)army and the RAF? The Army digs in, the RAF checks in.
ReplyDeleteArtillery: Cable
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT!
What about the air force? Do a post for them too! Please?
Oh, and on the topic, do you have fighters and bombers in your wargaming collection?
No mate but I think my mate does!
DeleteThat was most amusing!
ReplyDeletethis is the 4th time i've tried to leave a comment and my computer is really fecked up right now. i can't use caps or the bloody starts spewing gibberish.
ReplyDeletecivilian-hand me the remote and while you're up, get me a kabob.
What?
DeleteAnne: I hate when the keyboard has a mind of its own.
DeleteLurker: Howdy Hello to you :-)
Brilliant, really brilliant. As an old infantryman, I agree with all the points of the "Queen of Battles" (the Infantry!!!).
ReplyDeleteVery nice.
Nice one Fran!! I liked the Coffee maker not working, made me chuckle! Unlike you!
ReplyDeleteKiss it Ironsides.....
DeleteGreat stuff Fran! As an ex tanker happiness is having the wash rack behind you and finished especially if you were manoeuvring in European red clay!
ReplyDeleteChristopher
Ha, yes very good.
ReplyDeleteHeh. Good stuff.
ReplyDeleteGoota be the artillery for me... Still love that line from Good Morning Vietnam; "Anything just play it loud!"
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if I would rather be in the artillery or in the armoured section. I love big explosions so either would do really.
ReplyDeleteLOL very amusing
ReplyDeletepoor infantry always has to walk.... not that I feel sorry for any of them...
ReplyDeletethis is so close to being 100% true. I was Cav attatched to mech. infantry units. I was ina HMMWV, but still did my fair share of dismounted patrols. They absolutely suck.
ReplyDeleteI salute you, General, Sir!
ReplyDeleteI'm amused. This post made me smile.
ReplyDeleteYou made my day, Fran!
ReplyDeleteAs a former artilleryman I must absolutely agree!
Lols
ReplyDeleteHa! Beauty.. nice list here..
ReplyDeletelol, great fun Fran!
ReplyDeleteWould like to apply for Artillary role.
ReplyDeleteI'd go with armored, like hiding behind a big tank
ReplyDeleteInfantry is tough,Armor is cool but, as we used to say in the artillery "don't get close to it, just make it go away!" or never send a man where a 100lb HE love letter will do! ;-)
ReplyDeleteGood post, I'm joining the Artillery.
ReplyDeleteExcellent, enjoyed that
ReplyDeleteMain difference...infantry are best:-D
ReplyDeleteCheers
paul
paul I think that even though they are the best, it's nicer to be the artillary
