..........or maintaining the peace and showing the blue!
I always remember when I worked as a security supervisor in a couple of Dublin hospitals (interesting times) back in the day I always remember saying to the guys in our navy blue uniforms that patrolling the grounds and wards was showing the blue (uniform), reassuring people/staff that we were around (no matter the quality of officers).
These heavy metal boys are from GZG and represent the fleet of the riot squads of Franonia, a bit of a bitch to assemble and a bit of green stuff filling but they came together eventually. There is another version in the range but was sold out at Salute.
I have placed a 15mm figure from Flytrap Factory to give some idea of scale but they are big heavy feckers!
They are big. Very intimidating.
ReplyDeleteDid you enjoy working as a security supervisor?
To be honest yes even with the odd shithead employee!
DeleteVery scary. Nice find.
ReplyDeleteCheers for that!
DeleteVery nicely done mate. Didn't appreciate there size until seeing that last pic with infantry next to them. Looks awesome.
ReplyDeleteNice one Simon!
DeleteNice vehicles Fran :)
ReplyDeleteBut is there really a need for riot vehicles in such a haven of peace and tranquility as Franonia? Are dastardly agents from Rayonia mucking about, stirring up disharmony among the populace? ;)
Yes they are, fifth columnists are everywhere!
DeleteThey are cool bits of machinery! Nicely done Fran, the way things are going in the world there will be one on every street corner.
ReplyDeleteVery true Russ!
Delete...I´ll just stay in the middle of the street then :-D..or move to a cul-de-sac :-p They look good Fran. One Thing. If These are based on real vehicles..I can see a serious and exploitable design fault..
DeleteI don't know Paul to be honest, what did you find?
DeleteWell, apart from filling a fridge with paving slabs and dropping it from the 10th floor on top of them..the wheel arches. Get behind it and push a thick wooden beam in at an angle as the Thing moves Forwards and that´s that. Same at the front, lob a big lump of concrete in and as it moves fowards it would jam between the wheel and the blade. Most Riot vehicles have either enclosed wheel arches or ones whereby the wheel arch is a couple of cm away from the tyres or the wheel arch extends more than halfway down the wheels..If not then the wheel arches are massive (to block it you´d have to chuck something the size of a dustbin in) or they are thin metal (any obstruction would bend the wheel arch ) but that´s mostly for the faster moving riot van/landrover types or personell carriers.
DeleteWith virtually all Watercannon vehicles, the wheels are covered, particually the rear wheels, A to prevent anyone jamming them up and B to protect any personel from getting caught up in them.
The fridge thing is a real eye opener, well said old boy!
Deleteoh, noes, they will squish the flowers and the grass!
ReplyDeleteHorticulturalist!
DeleteCool machines there! Water cannons on top???
ReplyDeleteSure are!
DeleteGreat one! I also love... bases!
ReplyDeleteAppreciate that Michal!
DeleteGreat stuff! The blue has worked out very nicely!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sander!
DeleteLovely job Francis, the streets of Franonia should be save with these on the beat.
ReplyDeleteThey will, cheers Michael!
DeleteThose are some big looking beast. Hopefully they discourage the riffraff. Nice work Fran!
ReplyDeleteNice one Rod!
DeleteFormidable beasties Fran, and a lot bigger than I first thought. Your pic with the infantryman really helps put these bad boys' size into perspective. You're really painting some very nice minis presently, and doing some tip top paint-jobs on them too.
ReplyDeleteCheers for that Simon!
DeleteThey look very impressive Fran
ReplyDeleteThanks Neil!
DeleteGreat work, Fran! I do like the GZG stuff, very nice.
ReplyDeleteThey have good ideas!
DeleteVery nice, General. HF!!
ReplyDeleteHail Franonia!
DeleteNo riots will break out with them around. Awesome job
ReplyDeleteThanks Pat!
DeleteHefty beasts buddy!
ReplyDeleteCheers for that sir!
DeleteAnd you think these piddly things will help stop the Revolution???
ReplyDeleteAll hail Rayonia!!!
Down with Rayonia!
DeleteI like. Mind you, I am a pawn of the state :)
ReplyDeleteWell done Fran.
Well said citizen!
DeleteVery nice Fran. I am sure they will sort out anyone that tries to give trouble!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rodger!
DeleteWhile undoubtedly cool and well painted. As ALL the populace of Franoinia Love their beloved leader it is unlikely these will get used at all. Franonia is such a harmonious and tranquil place no one would dare rise up against their glorious leader. To do so would be utterly unbelievable, afterall it is what the adversts say and we all believe the adverst about the glorious leader. And we all have the same hair cut as him as well!
ReplyDeleteSkinheads for everyone!
DeleteAnd peace was restored.
ReplyDeleteThese do look the part for a menacing police state - surely they'll not be needed in Franconia?
We can only hope!
DeleteExcellent work sir!
ReplyDeleteCheers for that!
DeleteI'd feel fairly safe inside one of those :)
ReplyDeleteVery safe!
DeleteVery nice work indeed Fran!
ReplyDeleteChristopher
Thanks Christopher!
DeleteThose look really cool. Nice job. cheers
ReplyDeleteCheers Brendon!
Delete"Riot officers" are definitely on the "List of things I don't want to see up close". Maybe you could tell us some interesting stories about your time guarding a hospital.
ReplyDeleteSome of them are a little over the top!
DeleteVery nice work on those wagons Fran.
ReplyDeleteAppreciate that Carl!
DeleteI like the way those look Fran. Our tiny little police force got a few of these last year. Don't know why we need them as no one here could be arsed to protest anything.
ReplyDeleteHey, sorry I'm late but The Hubby has been down with pneumonia for almost two weeks. I've had to stay up till 5:00 a.m. just to paint. I'm beat all to hell!
Cheers Anne, hope he's okay now!
DeleteInteresting to hear you were security supervisor. Fun times, eh? Those things are scary looking!
ReplyDeleteInteresting times Elsie!
DeleteCool models, good paintjob, Fran. Well done!
ReplyDeleteCheers Stefan, appreciate that!
DeleteTops Fran, nice additions
ReplyDeleteCheers Al!
DeleteExcellent Fran, might be handy at clearing the snow to?
ReplyDeleteWell spotted, double the use!
DeleteGreat painting, Fran! Looking at the plows, I suspect that in Franconia, Soylent Green is people.
ReplyDeleteJust vicious rumours started by the opposition!
