Finally painted the Games Workshop WH40K Stormraven Gunship that I bodged in a recent post http://theangrylurker.blogspot.com/2011/02/games-workshop-wh40k-stormraven-gunship_23.html but I then made a bit of a gaff and glued the radar/sensor array on backwards but only noticed this when I had undercoated and started putting on the first coat of paint while sitting in front of the TV, now normally the model would have ended up in the fecking telly but reason prevailed and because SWMBO would have tried to kill me as she was sitting near (and she was the voice of reason). So got a hacksaw and cut the fecking crap off the gunship but it was a bit of a disaster and I ended up having to bodge something else together but it doesn't look as good but that's what Bell's Palsy does (well I'm blaming that because it couldn't be anything else?).
So it's now painted up for my Neo US forces and I know it looks like a flying skip but I think it conveys FUBAR about to handed out.
(Fucked up beyond all recognition) it's what I also call my dog!
Original bodged unglued sensor array look.
After hacksawing and furious anger!!!!!!!
Replacement bodged sensor array.
28mm Lead Adventure Neo US Special Forces.
It's a bit of an unstable beast on it's flying frame but it's a beauty.
That rocks Angry. AWESOME.
ReplyDeleteMan, that came out great. Even if it did rouse your infuriation. Nice save.
ReplyDeleteWell done on the save. The paint job looks superb. A larger, or more weighty base might be the order of the day, after it topples and crushes a squad of troops, sending arms and legs everywhere for the third time?
ReplyDeleteNo way, that looks fucking awesome!
ReplyDeleteWhy are you so cool?
ReplyDelete:)
Good recovery mate :D I like the alternative for the JCB cab of a gun blister and that paint job makes the 'raven look even more solid and brutal.
ReplyDeleteBell's Palsy, or no Bell's Palsy, It looks pretty cool .
ReplyDeleteWow. That thing is a monster. Nice job.
ReplyDeleteVery cool that it's flying.
ReplyDeleteIt really looks the part in those colours, and we'd likely not even notice the change in the array if you hadn't mentioned it. It looks no differently really, except maybe more real, even less designed for aesthetic pleasure than it was, but for practicality. A good reimagining of the kit and context.
ReplyDeletethat thing is enormous! looks quite badass
ReplyDeleteThat is epic. I suppose in another life, I'd have enjoyed getting into that stuff.
ReplyDeleteJolly nice old chap...:-D
ReplyDeleteCheers
paul
Awesome!
ReplyDeleteVery nice Fran!! (cough!)
ReplyDeleteYou Irish actually use the word "feck?" I thought that was just on Father Ted!
ReplyDeleteIf you DO throw this through a TV, I bet it would still look cool.
ReplyDelete@Banacek:I try and keep my language when I'm typing half way decent but speaking I curse like a cursing Irishman would.
ReplyDelete@Ray Rousell: Enough of the coughing you git.
If you want more stability on the flying stand, turn it around. It is more stable going the other direction (180 degree turn mate!) I've had the same issues with other models. They work one direction, but are much more stable on the stand the other direction. Nice job on the build/paint.
ReplyDeleteSuperb work, I wouldn't have noticed the mistake neither.
ReplyDeleteOne very very nice bit of kit
ReplyDeleteIt looks more amazing when it's in the air!
ReplyDeleteStill looks pretty good. A better job than what I could have done.
ReplyDeleteLooks really good - like the sensor array, even if it is backwards. No one would ever know.
ReplyDeletemeh
ReplyDeleteI WANT
I love the stand for it. It looks great!
ReplyDeleteholy feces that looks epic/awesome as hell!

ReplyDeletePeace James
I would tend to agree, that thing looks absolutely gorgeous! You really have a fine attention for detail, my friend!
ReplyDeleteJust like a good woman, I say who cares if it's stable and functional as long as it's pretty?
ReplyDeletenow it just needs some funny pwnage sayings, or tits.
ReplyDeleteHow do you not refrain from playing with that in the bathtub?
ReplyDeleteid love to roll in one of those :)
ReplyDeletelooks like an epic astro batmobile
ReplyDeletevery niiiiiice!
ReplyDeleteBix said it looks more solid and brutal - can't agree more; great take on the model. It isn't one I have, and has been much-maligned in some parts, but I quite like the general shape of the thing - realism be damned. You have taken that and given it a great mock-real sensiblity with the paint-work. Great stuff!
ReplyDeleteAwesomeeeeee
