Gamers will get this a bit quicker than some but only because of bad memories.............
....but on a more serious note to the financial well being of the wargaming industry, I got a phone call from Postie (El Presidente and Dictator for life of the Rejects) last Saturday night about did I want to go to the Skirmish 2011 show that Sunday morning (well it was either me or his missus), it's a small little show in Sidcup, Kent (picked up a few items including a great book to help with Operation Sealion project) but the real news was Postie left with nothing (he usually brings fellow Rejects only for carrying purposes).
Picture and proof below and contractual shot I forgot from the game...
EMPTY HANDED.......
An economist will tell you that the only way out of a recession is to spend more... Postie's non-purchases may have dire repercussions for the Wargaming industry!
ReplyDeleteNothing, Nada, Zip.... Postie must be ill.
ReplyDeleteMust have taken some real willpower!
ReplyDeleteWow...too bad for Postie. He must be near the end...
ReplyDeleteHan always roll a 20 :D
ReplyDeleteit's always lovely when a dictator drops you a call! I'm waiting for one from Gadafi!
ReplyDeleteIt happened to me some years ago at a convention... I can understand his disappointment all too well (I had his same face on that occasion). Anyway, the Italian wargaming market is still recovering from my non-purchases (Zerloon knows what I am talking about!).
ReplyDeletemeh nothing to buy or no cash to buy it with. I went to my first show last year and came away with nothing.
ReplyDeleteA lot or retailers didn't turn up coz of the snow
I have done that at one around here called Little Wars, but went to a regular bookstore not far away and still came away with something. It was also nice just to see other people doing these things in person, in large numbers, but sometimes the Industry aspects especially at such shows are a bit overpowering. To them it's an Industry.
ReplyDeleteMust suck to leave empty handed... :P
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Postie will make up for it when we go to SELWG, in October, he's already been phoning 'round to find out the price to hire a trailer for my car!!
ReplyDeleteIn regards to both Postie not buying anything and to Han Solo's comment I can only say, been there, done that!
ReplyDelete'Normals' don't know about your d20's.
ReplyDeletePerhaps for this one moment in time, his Excellancy had everything he could possibly need-- wait a minute, he's a gamer, that can never happen
ReplyDeleteIt's doubtful that we actually roll more 1's than 20's. But it sure feels like it.
ReplyDeleteI don't get a word you're saying here..
ReplyDeletemy goodness, does that man own every classy shirt of the internet? spot on mate
ReplyDeleteOh Han Solo. How do I love thee..
ReplyDeleteGoing to a show and buying nothing? Is he sick? :-D
ReplyDeleteI couldn't or better, I can't. Next show in November 5th at Antwerp. My empty bag stands ready to be filled :-D
Greetings
Peter

Poor Postie... maybe next time.
ReplyDeleteI think the last few movies that Han has starred in lead to a clue of his throwing ability.
ReplyDeleteNice post.
I feel like i'm missing something, cause i didn't understand a thing you said hahaha or it could be that im retarded...
ReplyDeleteProbably had his hands glued and taped to his pockets so couldn't buy.
ReplyDeleteChristopher
it might roll 19 other ways....just saying...
ReplyDeleteOptional caption for the Han Solo picture is...
ReplyDelete"Smell my finger"
I have it on good authority that Postie leaving empty-handed will cause a rift to open in the space/time continuum. He doesn't want that on his conscience, does he??
ReplyDeleteagree with Arlequin. If people dont buy then there is going to be recession.
ReplyDeleteWho does it benefit if you save three pennies in bank or something. Nobody
What a shocker, hope Postie is feeling better soon!
ReplyDeleteUgh, I hate that feeling. I hope things improve soon, for all of us. :(
ReplyDeleteSweet! How many times do you normally go to these conventions?
ReplyDeleteGreedo fired first!
ReplyDeleteim too young to understand
ReplyDeletesweet :P
ReplyDeletenice post
hehehe..I like D&D jokes
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry I'm late in getting here Angry. Are you going to post anything today? Or are you still celebrating our win over Italy? Me, I'm hung over.
ReplyDeleteI always roll a 20 - when playing Principles of War. Pity its the worst roll you can make...
