Angry Movie Lurker Honest Review 54: Transformers 3 (4 STARS).

....now it's 4 STARS if you like or can tolerate the franchise which I can even if Shia LeBeouf is in it or Megan Fox got the bullet from this one.

I'll be honest with you I held very little hope for this movie but it started with the What If? reason for the space race between the USSR and America and a Cybertronian spaceship (great opening battle on Cybertron) hidden on the dark side of the moon and footage of the astronauts searching the ship for technology and this information being held back from the Autobots.I won't ruin the plot as it's plain to see as you watch.
The Decepticons have human agents and and their own plans for the Cybertron and Earth, nearly everyone is back with a few new faces like Frances McDormand (not bad), John Malkovich (no idea why as his character is mad and not needed), Patrick Dempsey( misused as a bad guy) and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley as the love interest (replaced Megan Fox after the Hitler quotes got her fired, she's very pretty and not as wooden as described but one scene had me cringing but I did mention she's very pretty).
There's plenty of eye candy, explosions, humour (an autobot called Roadbuster shouting the words "ya Nancy Wanker"), fighting, military ordnance, shouting, running and explosions.
It's a romp, John Turturro returns and is better than ever, Leonard Nimoy has an iconic voice, what can I say it was worth a watch just leave your brain at the door.
I must admit I like the Decepticons...they're evil and have such cool stuff.

  3. @R.gers: Not only helicopters but predator drones, F22's and anything else in the air or on the ground.

  9. hey... What's wrong with the smurfs? ok, let's pretend I didn't say anything. As for Transformers, well... I watched for 10 minutes and then watched something else. I really couldn't stand this one.

  11. I like the idea of putting Jason Statham in the next movies in this franchise. He could play with his girlfriend Rosie :)

  12. I consider watching the first one a mistake. As such I've not risked watching the second, and won't watch the third.

  13. I hope she doesn't waste her money on a boob job before I can win that lottery--oh I was still thinking about Megan Fox.

  17. After the second one, I've given this one a miss so far. I don't know about 4 stars, but maybe I'll actually go rent it now. ;-)

  19. Well it's better than the second movie so that's more than enough reason for me to go watch it.

  20. i would give this 2 stars. there is so much of the same action crap that it actually gets dull. if there was ever a movie that i can accuse of taking an hour too long to say nothing at all it is this one (ok pearl harbor was worse for this, but not by much).

i will concede that RHW is incredibly hot, and that is why it gets 2 stars, not 1...

  24. Oh, sorry, but i don't like these new Movies with all thir animation effects... i like the good old hand made effects. I have seen the First Movie of Transformers, but i don't like the Story and the young Actors. But nobody can like every movie!!! :D

  25. The plot may be hit or miss, but there's few movies that compare in terms of action.

  26. The movie was killed off for me when they had Sentinel Prime literally quote Spock most of the time (the need of the many etc etc).

  27. I have to say I have had enough of Transformers xD

  31. Yip I have to say I enjoyed it too Angry L, The back story was very good. As you say leave your brain at the door and it is a fun ride.

Have you seen the 1st 2 eps of the 2nd Series of Walking dead yet. Interested to hear what you think of it. I'm really enjoying it and the scene with them hiding under the cars when the horde pops by was superb. Did wonder how the hell the zombies didn't sniff them out though?
    Cheers

  32. paulalba: That not sniffing them out was weird for me but I still have a problem with the group, too many moaners but at least some are thinking of breaking away. Also rumours of budget cuts seem unfounded as there were a lot of bodies in it but it's 13 episodes this time so we'll see but not bad.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yip loads of moaners but you know how it is when you are on holiday with a group there are always a good few downers so I guess it's no different after a zombie apocolypse (I think you said you used to play rugby? so you'll have been on tour if you know what I mean ;-)

I guess they must have got the smell of the KFC up the road :0)
    Cheers

  34. I enjoyed it more than the second one.... a little less than the first one.... but way more than the inevitable fourth and fifth ones.
