Not much more to add to what many others have said.........impressive (may contain spoilers).
When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis. With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.
I enjoyed the first, no real problems, I saw this in 3D and a couple of arrows made me flinch but getting better with 3D entertainment, this is quite an excellent movie from the get go, plenty of action, great effects, a good story with great characters, some humour, could do with more action but that's just me, the main characters are growing and you can see this developing before any 5 year missions.........
We have a new Khan (bloody impressive), old style Klingons (impressive), a Tribble and a Federation that I would have loved a series on, less exploring and more blowing the crap out of things but that's just me, it really is highly entertaining even if not a fan of Star Trek and I may go see it again.....
Also this lady is in it and in this outfit......
It was just a lot of fun! I liked it better than the first reboot movie. And now they can go anywhere they want with the series.
ReplyDeleteWith the last movie they had a clean slate. No need to follow Star Trek canon. So why just basically rewrite Wrath of Khan? Still a fun movie, just wish Mr Abrams would quit disappointing me.
ReplyDelete-J
I haven't seen either movies but I love the Spock commercial.
ReplyDeleteThanks, General.
ReplyDeleteI have not watched them either, but do like the series
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good one to me, but I still haven't seen the first one!
ReplyDeleteShocked sir!
DeleteIs the lady the new breed of Klingon?? I'll defeat to them !!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review, I liked the first movie and was planning to watch the new one on release. I need to check because I heard somewhere that will be not be shown in theaters until July in Spain (bizarre, isn't it?)
For some strange reason...yes!
DeleteI thought it was an excellent film, Cumberbatch's Khan was a great character!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Postie liked it as well!
DeleteThe picked the same scene to highlight as I did. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to see it this weekend. can't wait!
ReplyDeleteYeah, who cares about Khan...more Alice Eve please.
ReplyDeleteI have pretty high hopes for the Star Wars JJVerse.
Glad you enjoyed it...the review I've read and the reactions from my friends were all pretty negative...not that it was a bad movie just that it didn't live up to expectations and was a lot poorer than the first??
ReplyDeleteNo chance!
DeleteOo, I wanna flinch! I WANNA FLINCH!!!
ReplyDeleteYou would, you would!
Deletei am a fan of this film and of course you too!!
ReplyDeleteWhy thank you!
Deletethat would be Alice Eve
ReplyDeleteIt's on my to see list for sure.
ReplyDeleteChristopher
I just saw it today and enjoyed it quite a bit. I was never a Trekkie, but I have managed to see all the movies. This one was by far my favorite.
ReplyDeleteThe Spawn saw it over the weekend and failed to tell me about the Trible. SPAAAAAWN!
ReplyDeleteBad jasmine!
DeleteI cant wait to see this
ReplyDeleteTribbles! Although not a "trekkie" I do like the series and the reboot. My dad is a trekkie so I grew up watching this stuff. The Trouble with Tribbles was a favorite episode, and I liked even more when I seen the Deep Space Nine crew go back in time to the same episode.
ReplyDeleteThat was a good episode on DS9!
DeleteI've heard lots of good reports on this one. Again not my usual sort of film, but might see it on DVD. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteNot much of a trekkie, but will surely watch it, as it's been getting great reviews
ReplyDeleteMust admit this is on the 'must see' list!
ReplyDeleteWorth it Scott!
DeleteHaven't had a chance to see this yet, but hope to Friday. I'm what you'd call an "old school" Trekkie, and unlike most other Trekkies, I loved the 2009 reboot, and really am looking forward to watching Into Darkness. The Abrams take on Star Trek is refreshing- more fun, less stodgy. Thank you for the review Fran. I'm beginning to use your Honest Reviews as a dependable barometer for determining what what movies I will enjoy most.
ReplyDeleteI've actually never watched any Star Trek before including shows or movies.
ReplyDeleteI just hope it's better than the game. That thing has been universally declared a piece of garbage.
Little Belgium for some reason only gets it the 6th of June *cry*
ReplyDeleteThanks as always for the review.. am hoping to go and see it this weekend if we get the chance!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to this not really a trek fan but I enjoyed the last movie.
ReplyDeleteMmmm looking at the last pic this is a must see!
ReplyDeleteIt was a great flick
ReplyDeleteGood to see the good review and comments. We'll see this soon.
ReplyDeleteThat photo is as good as Charlize Theron in Prometheus! That does it for me - I'm off to see it! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI want to see the lady!!!! Excuse me, the movie, the movie.
ReplyDeleteThe fans of Star Trek don´t like this new series of movies because they have too much action, but I think it´s better now.
Thank you for the report.
Great to see you giving away another 4 stars!
ReplyDeleteWant to see this one. Funny thing is... I have always been a Trekie, but never liked the original series or wanted to see the rehash of the old enterprise crew. After I made my better half watch all of TNG, DS9, Voyager, Enterprise and movies VII to X over the past two years she made me watch # XI the other week... I liked it and now i want to see the sequel! :-P
She's got nice....erhm....Abs!
ReplyDeleteWe have liked Khan was one our favorite Villains... ever since I first watched "Space Seed" episode of the old show... I would love to see this guy's portrayal of this great Villain... unfortunately we have Not been to the movies in over Ten Years.... "Hannibal" was the last movie that I got to see in the Theater... just stuck here in Marshville...
