Angry Movie Lurker Review 33: Limitless (4 STARS)

An action-thriller about a writer who takes an experimental drug that allows him to use 100 percent of his mind. As one man evolves into the perfect version of himself, forces more corrupt than he can imagine mark him for assassination. Out-of-work writer Eddie Morra's (Cooper) rejection by girlfriend Lindy (Abbie Cornish) confirms his belief that he has zero future. That all vanishes the day an old friend introduces Eddie to NZT, a designer pharmaceutical that makes him laser focused and more confident than any man alive. Now on an NZT-fueled odyssey, everything Eddie's read, heard or seen is instantly organized and available to him. As the former nobody rises to the top of the financial world, he draws the attention of business mogul Carl Van Loon (De Niro), who sees this enhanced version of Eddie as the tool to make billions. But brutal side effects jeopardize his meteoric ascent. With a dwindling stash and hit men who will eliminate him to get the NZT, Eddie must stay wired long enough to elude capture and fulfill his destiny. If he can't, he will become just another victim who thought he'd found invincibility in a bottle.

Didn't know much about this movie before seeing it, Bradley Cooper (Eddie) I knew more from The A-Team movie and Hangover but he's very good in this movie and it's about a pill that allows you to use more of your brains potential to focus your thoughts and run at 100% efficency in everything you do, Eddie does this to turn his life around and make money in the financial markets but it brings him to the attention of Carl Van Loon (De Niro, back on form) but there are deals going on and the NZT is having a bad effect on Eddie and his life and he hears of other users and the side effects, he is being hunted by a killer who wants his supply of NZT, a ruthless moneylender who he initially uses to fund his financial success but problems occur (don't they always with moneylenders), the police for a possible murder charge ( Eddie has problems remembering stuff when he overdos the NZT)....eddie's life is spiralling out of control and the NZT is running out.
I won't tell you too much other than this is a fast paced movie, the action is good, Bradley Cooper is very good, there are a few plot holes but at the end (and the ending is good) you won't be disappointed and will feel I didn't mind that and haven't wasted my time.

  16. It makes me feel sort of out of it and clumsy to hear how much better I could operate with that stuff. But I better watch the movie first toi see about the side effects, and why all the other people using it didn't do all that.
