Yesterday got away from me with work demanding some attention........
The map is nearly finished, myself and Ray have just to add names to the cities and towns (various sized black dots), there are now borders for the regions (6), airports, roads, rivers, mines, oilfields and army barracks....
We didn't want to crowd the map too much but if you'd like to stake a claim and name a city or town or one of the 4 regions (red lined areas) left go for it!
The scale will be small with about 120 miles by 120 miles.
Have a good weekend people if you can.......
Oh go on... How about the important crossroads town of Leesville.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, given the current state of pseudo hostilities, I think a long beach somewhere has to be called Annzee-Oh ;)
ReplyDeleteYou got that right!
DeleteLots of open countryside there. Get your tanks fuelled and ready.
ReplyDeleteThat pointy bit that almost pinches off the northern bay (the northern little tip of Oman from the real-world map) has a little black dot city- looks like a great place for "Ferret Point" :D
ReplyDeleteVery nice mate, map looks very cool
ReplyDeleteIt's looking good, Fran.
ReplyDeleteThe Major road artery could be "Low Zeks Drive". The Island bottom right, "New Eire", The Central Highland could have a mountain "Lurkers Peak!". Just a few quick ideas.
ReplyDeleteWhat about a nice beach spot called "the French bay" near that nuclear dump in northern Franonia? Or is it a nuclear reactor, fuelled by French recycled nuclear material?
ReplyDelete;)
Sweet! BTW... I think you map is tipped sideways... East has a slight nothern fell to me! ;-)
ReplyDeleteAll that's left now of course is to expand your territory and fund space missions. Though you'd probably want some Warhammer figures for that.
ReplyDelete^TTHHIISS!!
DeleteThe former Spanish protectorate city of Ar-Le-Quin is an essential. As it's the regional capital of the budding Euro-Disco revival and holds a Las Ketchup Girls festival every year, how could you leave it off?
ReplyDeleteLooking good though and I'll be following this with interest. Do the page thing, even if it's empty right now I'd like to add it to my Imagi-Nations blog as a place holder for when you're ready to develop it.
Magna Carta! :) Looking very good Fran!
ReplyDeleteHow about the garrison town of Legiona? A former french foreign legion out post from the old colonial period?
ReplyDeleteNice one!
DeleteCheers
DeleteI think the city of Adamsgrad would be an impressive battle place.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what you do with this, as I have wanted to create a territory control campaign for a while.
Ooww, I love a nice map. Looks brilliant!
ReplyDeleteNice work on the map. Too early to think of an intelligent name though.
ReplyDeleteGreat maps there I am looking forward to seeing the campaign unfold. When are you hiring merc forces?
ReplyDeleteI think Jaysburgsville would be a good name :) Seriously, you could always go with something like South Franonia or North Franonia
ReplyDeleteCOol looking map there Fran - looking forward to see how this plays out.
There is a small, oft-forgotten black-dotted township named Miktonbürg I do believe. It's location escapes me but I'm sure you know where it is. Miktonbürg is famous for two things; its bakeries and its snipers. Don't let the quaint exteriors fool you, they're packing some serious high-techness under that sleepy facade!
ReplyDeleteNext you'll need to compose Franonia's national anthem.
ReplyDeleteI second that notion.
DeleteThirded
DeleteIts coming along nicely!
ReplyDeleteWell the lush green area in the east of Franonia is obviously a place where the peace loving citizens can stroll amongst the peaceful parklands and forests so I think Kingsley Park as a name would sum that area up quite nicely!
ReplyDeleteSounds good sir!
DeleteHmmm how about "Axebreakers Tip","Bunkerhillsville", "Franlin","Raygrad", "VonderFran", "Red Ray Bay", "Jack Boot Hill", "Red Star Lane", "Siegfried Valley", "Comrade Falls".
ReplyDeleteChristopher
lol... some nice ones there... didn't the 'Red Ray Bay' incident start the Vietnam War or something? lol
Deletewhat? No lakes and rivers?
ReplyDeleteCant wait to see the finished result! :D
ReplyDeleteHow 'bout, Boogerbutt Lane?
ReplyDeleteEvery town needs a Boogerbutt Lane.
Happy Mapping.
Annes's Tir na nÓg. That's Anne's land of eternal youth. It's a glorious place filled with young buxom women whose greatest virtue is the desire to please a man weary from the travails of battle. Every faucet runs with beer, the lakes are filled with wine and those who seek youth will find it here!
ReplyDeleteGot an island with you name on it!
DeleteThe Hubby says he want to relocate to Franonia and visit my island of women!!
DeleteWow! That sounds like a distant utopia. Add tacos in there, some apples, and it'll be like paradise.
Deletehmmm, how about "My Place", "Zomville", "Taco Island"... i don't know it's a rolling of my head.
ReplyDeleteAwesome. I can hear the Game of Thrones intro music playing.
ReplyDeleteMap came along quite nice. I'm assuming the red lines are provincial borders, changing them to dashed would help but is not necessary. Is the narrow junction the international border between Rayonia and Franonia? And the capital of Rayonia should be, what else, Raygrad. You know home of the Ray Mahal and the life size golden statue of Our Glorious Leader and President for life. (Just in case the RayGB are monitoring this transmission.)

ReplyDeleteRayGB is monitoring the transmission alright!! Yep the red lines are county/state borders and the little strip of land is the border between the two states of Rayonia and Franonia, which are of course both in Franonia, but not for long!!
DeleteNice looking map.
ReplyDeleteThe 3 small islands on the left side of the map: The AV Islands. Home of the Pirate tribes. ;-)
Really coming along Sir; I've got to say there is something hugely appealing at the thought of having your own country, even if the neighbours are a little unfriendly. Must be a God complex I'm suffering from!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend my good man!
Ask Fran how much of the map he worked on!!!
DeleteMost of it!
DeleteAll hail Franonia and tremble at its might. Looks like it is coming along famously now where do you hire the Merc?
ReplyDeleteVery nice, very nice Fran...waiting more! A lot of oilfields, no? Gonna be rich and independant!
ReplyDeleteNot too rich!
DeleteI hate when work gets in the way of me doing my personal stuff! Looks good...can't wait to see what's next!
ReplyDeleteI'm not clever enough to come up with a good name but enjoyed looking at the features of the map, good job!
ReplyDeleteYou have snow everywhere during winter or do you some place where it is always like Texas? I would like a FASA - Franonia Aeronautics and Space Administration to track UFO sightings and a silicon valley with Bill Gates house with swimming pool on second floor?
ReplyDeleteWill you give me one or I should team with Rayonia and claim one?
Fran's evil, come on over and join the fun!!!
DeleteThank you Ray. :) Fran - really?
DeleteWhat do you bring to the table?
DeleteSome excellent suggestions for names Francois!! I suppose I'll have to add some when were back on days on Tuesday!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhen are you going to bomb the shit out of it?
ReplyDeleteThis part keeps looking more and more fun to me
ReplyDeleteBeautiful map, Gentlemen (except when leading your troops against your neighbor). And somebodies have dropped you a bunch of great geographical names to cogitate on.
ReplyDeletewow this looks awesome
ReplyDeleteName one town dogwool after my bizarre dog post, that will be mildly amusing. I like how much detail you put in to your map, it looks like it could be a real place. There is even a tiny Island that could be England.
ReplyDeleteI STILL SEE THE MIDDLE EAST!!!!!! :-P oh and nice bagdahd there it is an important city in Franonia and real life.
ReplyDeleteWILL THERE BE A EMBASSY FOR ORONEGRO IN FRANONIA AND RAYONIA OR WILL ONLY ONE OF YOU CLAIM MY ALLEGANCE???
Come to the Franonian side Gowan!
Deletethanks I'll join the winning side and if things look bad I'll always send someone who can change them... 007 my middle name is james and so is this opperatives
DeleteThe town of Mudville, where they play a lot of baseball.
ReplyDeleteAnd there's Acme, the factory town.
And Monroeville. Their mall is full of zeds.
Or Puerta Hacienda, a sleepy fishing village, with a dark secret lurking beneath the waves.
Miskatonic University sent an archaeological expedition to Badmenistan
Will have to use one of them!
DeleteSweet this will be cool cant wait for the pics!
ReplyDeleteLooks good, I have had no end of trouble leaving comments on your blog of late!!!
ReplyDeleteIan
The map is really looking great. How about names like San Franoian Bay, or Bad Ray Bay.
ReplyDeleteLooking good...
ReplyDeletethis looks interesting! i'll have to read your posts to see what it's all about. btw, I'm having a 100+ Follower Urban Decay Giveaway! I hope you enter :)
ReplyDeleteKageland! KAGELAND!!! All of it! Lol
ReplyDeleteYour own country...pretty amazing
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are really coming along in your project here. Cool.
ReplyDeleteWow, you have your very own country. I have been on a blog vacation so I am not really sure what this is all about so I can't offer any useful names. Congratulations on your project, though. It seems like you have done a lot of work and you have your own country to show for it. I am impressed.
ReplyDeletenice map
ReplyDeleteA city or region called Derptopia would be hilarious. :P
ReplyDeleteTurn it around a bit, and it starts looking like the region around Suez Canal. That desert being the Sunai Desert or sorts.
ReplyDelete
