The Difference between the Infantry, the Armoured and the Artillery in the Army....

The Difference between the Infantry, the Armoured and the Artillery in the army........

HAPPINESS IS . . .

Infantry: A good rifle
Armoured: A big tank
Artillery: A loud boom

UPON HEARING FIREWORKS:

Infantry: Cool, just like a live fire exercise
Armoured: Not loud enough
Artillery: Fireworks? What fireworks?

OTHER TRADES:

Infantry: Waste of rations
Armoured: Waste of rations
Artillery: Waste of rations

IDEA OF FUN:

Infantry: Not having to "pepper-pot" an entire grid square before the
objective
Armoured: Racing across a grid square on "full stab"
Artillery: Leveling a grid square

FAVOURITE SONG:

Infantry: "Ballad of the Green Beret"
Armoured: "Purple Haze"
Artillery: Anything, just play it LOUD!

BIGGEST LUXURY IN THE FIELD:

Infantry: Engineers blowing trenches for them with C4
Armoured: Grunts to dig their trenches for them
Artillery: Cable

A LONG ROUTE MARCH WITH FULL KIT:

Infantry: 20 clicks
Armoured: From the hangars to the tank
Artillery: What's a route march?

OFFICERS:

Infantry: Are morons and should stay away from the trench lines
Armoured: Are morons and should stay out of the vehicles
Artillery: Are morons and should stay away from the gun lines

FAVOURITE MODE OF TRANSPORTATION:

Infantry: Anything but walking
Armoured: Tanks. Tanks. Tanks. TankstankstankstanksTANKS!
Artillery: Don't you have to move around to require transport?

BIGGEST GRIPE IN THE FIELD:

Infantry: The weather
Armoured: Coffee maker in tank not working
Artillery: Only having basic cable

BREAKFAST IN THE FIELD:

Infantry: I don't care what it is, just so long as I can sit down to eat it

15mm Painted Khurasan Miniatures Taliban.

I had bought the QRF Taliban but when these were released by Khurasan I decided to go with these which in my opinion were better figures, Ray painted these for me because he couldn't keep up with the re-payments....

....did a single scale picture to give an idea of size with some other manufacturers.

Pics are the usual quality but they're good figures in my opinion with slightly large weapons as the only quibble!

Peter Pig, The Scene and GZG for scale.....

Got an apprenticeship tutor coming in this morning and he's already late...........

15mm Painted Khurasan Miniatures Redneck Welcoming Committee......

.......Wikipedia has an explanation for the term redneck in the US but in the Ireland a redneck was somebody who lived outside of Dublin whose Dad slapped them on the back of the neck and told them to go to Dublin and get a job!

These six figures are from Khurasan Miniatures Planet 15 range (there should be 7 but at the time I couldn't remember where I put the seventh but as I type this I remember where I put it!)

Not the greatest of sculpts but full of character all the same, they will have a second set out soon I believe....

It's a bright, way too early Sunday morning here at work and Ray is a sandwich short of a picnic....it's how I feel

Angry Lurker Honest Movie Review 80: Seeking A Friend for the end of the World 2012 (3 STARS).

...what would do with 21 days before all life ended?

An asteroid named "Matilda" is on a collision course with Earth and in 21 days it will collide with and end all life, everything that could be done has been done and failed and now the world must prepare for the end. What would you do if your life and the world were doomed? One man decides to spend his time searching for a  long lost love from high school (his wife has left him in the panic) during the upcoming apocalypse but not alone.......

This is a thinly veiled chick flick but the story of 21 days left for the world and what would you do intrigued me, some of the choices made my by some of the people amazed and dismayed me, it's a road movie, it's quite funny in places, it's a small story within the story of the world, there is rioting but it's just a scene setter for the rest of the movie.

The real story is between Steve Carell and Keira Knightley as they journey to the long lost love, they meet some great, absurd, annoying characters along the way, now these two are not my most favourite actors in the world but they perform well and didn't irritate me that much, a strange story with little shown about what real events would transpire as the world imploded, I didn't see it going this way myself but then I'm just a cynic......

.......I don't want to give away too much but it's worth a watch though but I would have gone another way with my 21 days!.

Two years old today and Angry painting.....

...and for once it's not me!

The One!

Been going two years today and I meant to have a special give away that myself, Ray and Lee have been trying to sort out but it's taking too long (hopefully soon but if not I'll sort out something else to give away)....

Thanks for reading and commenting and here's to maybe a third year as well.......

....and now for some angry painting from Ray, as you know we're on nights at the moment and Ray is involved in a painting challenge with Anne but he's not happy, he's cursing a lot, he's stabbed himself in a finger quite badly while painting a 28mm Mouse Mage (Ray calls it something else though but I won't print it in case there are any sensitive souls reading!) and he keeps shouting at me that's my fault as I made friends with the bitch Anne and dragged him into this situation!

The figure painter in his natural state, concentrating, focused, at one with the miniature and completely unaware he's been photographed......

until he spots the paparazzi and unleashes the anger but we all know it's Anne's fault as he keeps shouting, that bottle nearly hit my strawberry blonde head but I was laughing so much he missed...

....and strawberry blondes do have souls!!!!!!

15mm Modern Hostages and Prisoners.

Many uses for a variety of periods including modern, zombie or sci-fi etc...., most are from Rebel Minis with the two hooded ones from Khurasan Miniatures.......

....the figures are not bad and painted by Ray!

15mm Painted SAS Scud Hunters from CP Models.......

....and a bit of commentary on making small metal models!

Not great painting or especially good pictures but some idea of the scale of these big boys...if that's your thing.

Me and Ray are on nights, I've found that fiddling and making 15mm models and vehicles and big hands don't work but super glue seals the cuts really quickly as it was really used for originally in Vietnam!

Brief commentary shortened...

Fecking hell...
Look at all this fecking flash...
Bloody mold lines.......
That hit the bone.......
I can't get my fingers apart........
I'm feeling faint........
Ray!, do you have any acetone....
Fecking hell........
Chilli cheese dip....mmmmmmmmmm!
How the feck do they expect me to get this in that hole...
I'm not a fecking engineer.....
Fecking hell......
For fecks sake I've dropped it on the floor...again!
Ray, stop fecking laughing...
I hate this fecking hobby......
That felt like a tendon.......
For the fecking love of Michael Flately....
That's fecking that I've had enough......
Fecking hobby......
I'll pick it out of the fecking wall later Ray!

15mm Peter Pig, The Scene and Khurasan Miniatures for scale....

Inspiring Picture 39: Rare View of what Ray is about to get.....

...meant to post figure pictures today but they're not up to showing and I'm on my fourth day with him and God will forgive me...well Anne will!

An actual Can-O-Whoopass.......

Back on Saturday night shift, see you then!

Angry Lurker Honest Movie Review 79: Killer Joe 2012 (3 STARS?)

A son in debt to the local kingpin decides with his family's help to bump off his mother and his dads ex-wife for the insurance money and use local detective and killer for hire Joe Cooper to do the deed but they don't have his fee until the insurance clears, so the young daughter Dottie is used as collateral until the fee is paid, cue the weirdest, slightly unsettling strangest movie I've seen in quite a long time.......

.....did I mention the chicken drumstick fellatio scene!

Matthew McConaughey is quire brilliant as Killer Joe, menacing and "eyes that hurt" one moment and scene eating the next, the trailer park dog that barks at everyone except Joe! The collateral scene between Joe and Dottie is unsettling as is the chicken drumstick scene but this train wreck of a movie saves the best or worst for last with the ending and confusion.
I still don't know how I feel about this movie, it's dumb (the family are awful dumb and backstabbing shits), funny in places, the violence is a little over the top, the performances from the cast are great especially Gershorn (I swear the woman has a nudity clause) and Church (plays dumb well), nudity but unsettling should you be watching this nudity?

The ending still has me annoyed and unclear but I'm glad I've seen it but probably never again, Friedkin I think was pulling my chain!

15mm Modern or Sci-Fi Cold Weather Troops...

...or shy types from shy guy at Khurasan Miniatures.

Got these boys from Khurasan, lovely sculpts, virtually no flash and actually nice to paint the buggers, can't find them on the site and initially found them on TMP.

Did some scale pics with a Peter Pig figure if that's your bag or any help!

Upgraded the 15mm Franonian Navy....

.....from an old CIA guy who kept saying his name was Mr.Smith!

Bought these off Timecast, not particularly happy with them, lots of holes in the resin, the lifebuoys are not fully cast on any of the eight on both models, terrible mold lines on the metal parts and you had to supply your own gun barrels????? Now Timecast only sell this from a company called Gomi Designs but what can you do but get on with it!

Am I being pedantic about the barrels, no mention on the site, why don't they supply them?

We have a troop carrier and monitor boat from the Vietnam era, still functional after all these years....

15mm Rebel Minis figure for scale.....

Inspiring Picture 38: Being a Drummer and.....

...for Anne's Attic and her anniversary and competition over at her blog because of course she is a drummer as well!

Ray is currently writing the rules with my help and fecking cackling a lot......

Deep down we nearly all want to be drummers well especially the boys!

Back on Friday day shifts and look after yourselves until then if you can?

Sunday, 8 July 2012

15mm Painted Zombie Horde Bases....

.....for use with Akula's AR:SE 2 page zombie rules.

In the rules if one of these bases touch a survivor figure it's instant death, they are also zombie spawn points,  and the figures are mostly if not all Rebel Minis I believe....

Now I just need to find 15mm zombie tank figures and we're done with the zombies......

Could have put more figures on them but it's more for what they represent in the game than anything else.

....and Ray painted the figures so my apologies!

Anne O'Leary is having a challenge over at her blog and wants you to drop over and help her win
, so get on with it

Angry Lurker Honest Movie Review 78: Prometheus 2012 (3 STARS)

...I finally decided to go see this much talked about Alien prequel.

A group of scientists funded by the Weyland Group travel to far ends of the galaxy to find their creators on a planet by deciphering cave drawings spanning thousands of years on Earth, what they discover is that they are doomed and possibly mankind as well.

This movie is visually stunning, I mean beautifully stunning, a good performance from Michael Fassbender but it is one of the most fucking all over the bloody place, plot hole ridden, of course it's a bloody prequel, don't care about most characters, scientifically retarded, so many questions, WTF? moments movie I've seen in quite a while....and that's why it got 3 STARS because I've discussed this movie with so many friends and the great heated arguments and questions that have ensued justified the rating and very, very few movies have annoyed and delighted me in such a long time...

.....is it worth a watch...yes...just so you can discuss how much it pissed you off or what was that about with friends.

Bring on the Prometheus 2!!!!!!!!!

15mm Painted Modern or Zombie Casualty Markers.....

....I may have gone over the top!

Have stopped at 56 for the moment, figures are from Peter Pig and their AK47 militia range.

Night 3 continues and a dodgy energy drink and kebab have taken their toll....and then there's Ray!
