My 28mm Victorian Sci-Fi British Naval Crew from.......

............Copplestone Castings!

My small British detachment for some Victorian Sci-Fi gaming (if that ever happens), 10 ratings, 4 officers, 2 pilots and an Ambassador when I find the figure I like, these were painted pre-unemployment, lovely stuff from Copplestone as usual.

Maybe some loyal native troops.......

With this they can be in any part of the country in hours....well maybe days!

  1. They look sharp! Might take that little sub a week though. Hope you do some sci-fi gaming soon.

  2. Victorian sci fi? Anything that combines those words needs to happen.

  3. This is my lucky day! I just happened to log onto blogger right when you posted. That hasn't happened in an age.

These guys are nice Fran and I like that sub. You'll have to get a game in somehow. I know Ray isn't into this kind of thing, but maybe you could tempt him with some custard doughnuts.

  5. Very nice. I just love Copplestone: so fun to paint!
I'm working on some right now for a client to be Dr.Who U.N.I.T. troopers.

For an Ambassador you might look at Lead Adventure Miniature's line.. lots of good VSF characters in there with the appropriate amount of puffed-up regalness you'd want for an ambassador.

  6. Great figures, though I'm a bit iffy on the sub thing.
The one thing I don't get is that this post doesn't have a single dig at "you-know-who", no "Hello Sailor" or any of the usual banter - Are you unwell ?

    1. The heat is killing me and my limited brain cells, I was more set on the aeronef thing but sub is a good idea, maybe a transforming thingy!

  21. Very nice painting work on them. I've loved English Naval Marines for VSF ever since i saw a sort of "Black Hawk Down" meets victorian sci-fi game on "Rot and Drivel" forever ago. Wonderful stuff!

  23. Nice figures Fran. They go really well with the Vehicle. (Yes I know it's an aeronef, but I love the idea of using it as a sub!)

You do seem to have gotten back into painting.

  24. Hoi Fran, great stuff. For the ambassador you could try some figures of this range: http://pulpfigures.com/products/view/27 or the guy in dinner dress: http://pulpfigures.com/products/view/35

the guy top left first row is brilliant: http://pulpfigures.com/products/view/186 now I know this producer doesn´t sell single figures but if that´s a problem we could buy the set together and share the mini´s I´ll give you first pick!

  29. They look great, Fran, as per usual. And a nice job on the Ironclad airship, as well.

Have you looked at the Frother's UK Colonel Marbles, I think? I am using his figure as my Viceroy on Mars.

  30. Excellent work Francis! (Can't go wrong with all those fierce whiskers.) Love the steam-craft as well but it needs a deck gun to finish it off.

  38. Good work, Fran.
Those guys do really look like proud Britih seamen.

    Cheers
    Stefan

  39. Now the question is, despite being seamen, how well do they actually swim?

    1. During the press gang years and I believe further, a lot of them couldn't swim!

  41. Gonna plagiarize mark's comment. Victorian sci-fi sounds like a big thriller. Fran you should dress up like that third guy from left in first picture. They look so fine and handsome. Sci-fi navy men in non-hazmat suit cool.

  42. What, no ladies? That's gonna be a long, awkward week on that (very cool looking) sub!

  43. Nicely painted sailors... are any of them called Stains by any chance?
